Forget your typical shopping centre food court, as Westfield Marion unveils their brand new Food Mall this Wednesday, August 3, with a smorgasbord of fresh food retailers, grocers and restaurants.
It has just been announced that among the recent renovations to welcome in ALDI supermarket, another 14 new and returning retailers will also be opening this week.
You’ll no longer need to head into China Town to pick up your Asian recipe ingredients, as Lau Peking will be opening their first South Australian store inside the mall.
You may recognise Panacea, HOKOPO and Warong from the CBD or La Madeleine from Norwood as they all branch out by opening second shopfronts at the Marion location. Never fear as local favourites Springfield Butcher, The Cheesemonger and Manuel’s Seafood will be returning, too.
Westfield South Australian Regional Manager Malcolm Creswell also says they’ll be supporting pop-up food vendors.
“We’re also thrilled to be accommodating several pop-ups, where shoppers can expect to see something new from local artisans and producers when they visit,” Malcolm says.
To officially launch the new space — that Malcolm describes as “raw, industrial and individual” — the centre will be hosting over 25 in-centre events during 3–7 August that includes cooking masterclasses with celebrity cooks and chefs, live music, live entertainment and a pop-up bar on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Former MasterChef contestant Jessie Spiby says she’s excited to meet locals during her pickling masterclass on opening day after the official ribbon cutting.
“I am thrilled to partner with Westfield Marion to launch their new Food Mall,” Jessie says. “The unique offering gives shoppers access to both everyday and gourmet produce.”
