As if the Itsines family empire wasn’t big enough already, Leah Itsines has just launched a brand-new business with her partner in crime, Mitch Caon. The pair are launching Tastebudd, a meal delivery service right here in Adelaide that offers time-poor folks and busy families a contemporary, innovative and quick way of cooking.
Leah and Mitch believe in spending as much time with family as possible so they created Tastebudd in hopes to take the hassle out of cooking. The chefs prepare each ingredient so it’s ready to be cooked. They peel, cut, marinate and deliver the ingredients right to your door with recipes that can be whipped up in under 30 minutes.
Leah designs each weekly meal plan herself and hopes to bring these quick and healthy meals to all households, so they will of course be including vegan and vegetarian options every week to choose from.
Tell us a little more about Tastebudd and what we can expect when it arrives at our door…
When you receive your Tastebudd meal kit, you’ll find all your pre-prepared ingredients for your meals in labelled bags, with step-by-step recipe cards to follow and a thank you card from us, allowing you to cook dinner in less than 30 minutes. No mess, no stress, just cook!
Why did you create Tastebudd and how is it different?
Tastebudd was a natural progression for my brand, our following in Australia is quite strong and the amount of DM’s I get every day from people asking me if they can taste test or eat my food, is crazy! So, we thought why not bring my food to life through a meal delivery service that also inspires people to get in the kitchen and cook healthy meals for themselves.
We wanted to create something unique in the meal delivery industry, with something that really hasn’t been done before. With Tastebudd we take the prep work out of the equation, we peel, cut, portion, marinate and package all the ingredients you need for each of your meals. All you have to do is follow our step-by-step recipe card, throw everything in a pan and enjoy a delicious dinner in less than 30 minutes.
As time goes on we’re becoming more time poor with less time at night to actually prepare and cook nutritionally balanced dinners. Tastebudd is aimed at creating more convenience for busy mums, time-poor professionals and families that still want to enjoy a delicious dinner, but don’t want to spend hours prepping their meals.
What has it been like working so closely with your partner, Mitch?
It can be challenging at times and it’s one of those things that either works or doesn’t. Lucky for Mitch and I, we complement each other extremely well. Having a partner in business has only made our businesses stronger as we’re both able to focus on our strengths: I stick to all the creative [and] social side of things and I let Mitch take care of all the business [and] behind-the-scenes day-to-day operations side of things. So, it’s the perfect match – although I’d never tell him that.
You’re killing it in the foodie world, what’s next for Leah?
We’re definitely trying to listen to our online community more and more! I can’t give away too much just yet but I’m currently working on something really exciting and soon you’ll be able to access more healthy and tasty recipes in a super supportive community environment. We also have a big pipeline for next 12 – 18 months that will allow me to physically connect with audiences all over the world, which of course including everyone in Adelaide…many exciting projects in the pipeline, so stay tuned guys!
Tastebudd has launched in Leah’s hometown, Adelaide but they have plans to expand Australia wide. Check out the weekly menus and more information here.
