Spring Beauty Trends

A new season means new beauty trends and we couldn’t be more excited for what spring has to offer. It’s the time of the year when it’s finally acceptable to wear colour so why not experiment with your makeup look? We’re here to tell you to ditch your comfortable nude eye shadows and swap your lip balm for a bright lipstick. Straight from the SS17/18 runway shows to your screens, here is the latest in beauty.

Colour Wash Eyes

This trend is all about adding a wash of colour to your lids, and can also be worn underneath your eyes. This look typically uses the one colour, but a second can be added to either contrast or add a bit of dimension to the eyes. We’ve rounded up a few eye shadow palettes with spring inspired shades of pink that you’re going to love.

Clean Skin

The barely there makeup trend is hardly new, but it’s time we all embrace it. Spring is all about showing off your natural beauty just in time for summer, when you really don’t feel like wearing makeup every single day. Try something lighter like a BB cream, CC cream or a tinted moisturiser. To really make this look work, focus on combing out your eyebrows with a brow gel, after all they are what’s going to shape your face

Clockwise from L-R: Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF, $57, Mecca Maxima Westfield Marion / Hourglass Illusion Hyaluronic Skin Tint, $81, Mecca Cosmetica Myer Adelaide / Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser, $66, Mecca Cosmetica Burnside Village / Chanel Vitalumiére Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15, $78, David Jones Adelaide Central Plaza.

The 2-in-1 Lipstick and Blush

Using the same product for your lips and cheeks adds a certain unity to your makeup look. The wash of colour to your lips is very subtle, while the colour on your cheeks can be as bold as you build it up to be. Now, there are specific products made for both your lips and cheeks and we thinks it’s time to get behind the convenience and genius of it.

A Bright Lip

The obvious addition to your makeup regime in spring is a bright lip. Think spring pastels: coral, a bright pink or an orange-red. The best way to pull this look off in spring is with minimal makeup, so try the clean skin look and skip the eye shadow and bronzer altogether.
