It’s no secret that we’ve got some amazing hairdressers here in South Australia and now it’s been confirmed with quite a few local names earning spots on the 2018 Hair Expo Awards finalists list.
The Hair Expo Awards are one of Australia and New Zealand’s highest hairdressing honours. Entrants are invited to submit a hair collection to be judged by a global panel of 10 international and 10 local judges, representing a selection of the world’s best hair professionals. There are a total of 14 creative categories and four business categories.
Going up for the awards of all awards, Australian Hairdresser of the Year, are 2017’s reigning winner – and a close friend of CLIQUE – Jason Fassbender from Parlour Hair Unley and the talented Uros Mikic from Kinky Curly Straight.
Uros also makes a second appearance in the Men’s Hairdresser/Barber of the Year category while the Parlour group have picked up nominations in Apprentice of the Year with Nathan Smith and Salon Design of the Year for their brand new Adelaide home base.
Blow! It’s A Hair Thing has also picked up nominations with Ingrid Wolff also up for Apprentice of the Year as well as a nomination recognising their team work as Salon Team of the Year.
And of course, there’s the South Australian Creative State category which sees Colour Cosmetica‘s Johnny Georgiou go head to head with another Parlour Hair Unley talent, Tony McKenzie and veteran Sam James from Orbe North Adelaide.
Rounding out the South Australian finalists are Colour Cosmetica’s Nicholas Tragos up for the Apprentice award, Angela Pastore, also of Colour Cosmetica Studio and Academy, who is up for Colour Technician of the Year and Gregson Gastar of BG’s Lounge who is another addition to the Men’s Hairdresser/Barber of the Year catergory.
We sure have a lot of talent here at home and now we can’t wait to see them bring home the awards come June.
