Earlier this month, Nike globally released the soft and smooth Air Max 270 React sneaker, whose name derives from those colourful Nike Air Max shoes from the early 90s.
Specific artistic styles or movements are seen in each colorway of the shoe, for example the shoe you see above heralds the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus’s founding by recalling the school’s formal studies of asymmetrical balance. You can also see San Francisco psychedelia explorations of geometric highlighted. More importantly, they just look really cool and ooze 90s nostalgia.
Nike Senior Sportswear Design Director Dylan Raasch says “Instead of no-sew or stitched on panels, the Air Max 270 React is built with a bar tack technique inspired by the Element React 87, this creates the floating eye stay aesthetic.”
