Last week, Orbe North Adelaide hair salon hosted a week-long fundraiser for the National Breast Cancer Foundation to raise funds and awareness for the cause.
Salon director, Sam James-Cockayne says this fundraiser came about as one of their clients is currently going through chemotherapy.
“This is very close to our hearts after supporting so many of our beautiful clients through their hard journeys,” Sam says. “Whether it’s looking after their hair through the changes of chemotherapy or helping find the right haircut or wig, or simply being their little escape.”
On Thursday afternoon, Orbe hosted an in-salon event to surprise their client who’s battling cancer where her sister and niece had a big chop. It was no surprise that it was an emotional day, but thanks to donations from local bakeries O’Connell Street Bakery, Very Vegan and St Georges Bakery, they were able to make it feel more like a celebration with yummy treats.
Sam says their goal is to raise $700 through their online donation page that’s still open for donations, big or small.
