There’s no doubt that the Adelaide Fashion Festival presented by Mercedes-Benz Adelaide has stepped up their game this year and there was no other way to end it than with a Paolo Sebastian show that left the crowd in absolute awe.
Walking into the AFF hub, the sleek white runway had been replaced with fresh grass and real wildflowers — an homage to the French countryside where Adelaide photographer Simon Cecere shot the 2016-17 Autumn/Winter ‘Gilded Wings‘ campaign. The incredible collection then came down the runway with international model Coco Rocha leading the charge in an incredible beaded gown, in a collection that celebrated a colour palette of rose gold, lavender and storm grey.
An small interlude came with the showing of a film by Nima Nabili Rad who followed Paul Vasileff on his emotional journey to showing in Paris. Then came a second collection, Wildflowers — the 2017 Spring/Summer collection. It was like a bohemian dream with classic Paolo design points like a billowing sleeve and tactile fabrics but newer details like the hand-stitched flower details, which was perfect on the Wildflowers runway.
The show ended with a standing ovation while the man himself came down and took a bow on the field of dreams he created.
