PIRELLI revealed the cast of their 2018 calendar and it’s pretty incredible. Starring an all-black line up and set to the theme of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, it depicts some of the biggest stars in film and fashion in various over the top themed costumes.
Scoring a gig in the annual PIRELLI Calendar is often one of the most coveted jobs that a model can get. Since its inception in 1963, it’s been the epitome of pushing boundaries, racy editorial photos and just all out risqué calendar girl vibes that publications can’t even show.
This year’s calendar – shot by the incredible Tim Walker and styled by British Vogue’s new editor-in-chief Edward Enninful – follow the unconventional ways of the last two shoots. In 2016, renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz flipped it on its head by starring an all-female line up who were celebrated for their achievements rather than their looks. Then the next year, Peter Lindbergh photographed the women sans-makeup, fully clothed and un-airbrushed with the intention of highlighting true ‘more naked that nude’ beauty.
This year’s calendar stars massives names like Naomi Campbell and Sean Combs as Lewis Carroll’s characters The Royal Beheaders, Lupita Nyong’o as the Dormouse, Whoopi Goldberg appears as The Royal Duchess, Djimon Honsou and RuPaul are the King and Queen of Hearts respectively, while Adelaide’s own Adut Akech is The Queen of Diamonds. Leading it all is Australian model, Duckie Thot who appears as Alice. And these are just a few the names.
