Our very own Paul Vasileff can not do wrong! In its 13th year, Paolo Sebastian introduces their Spring / Summer 2020 couture collection, The Passage of Spring. The breathtaking collection is inspired by Botticelli’s painting Primavera, where the collection draws inspiration from the ethereal nymphs, capturing the charm and organic beauty of The Three Graces.
The collection embodies romance and the growth of spring with voluminous ruffles and soft, floaty swing dresses. “The idea for the collection began with a conversation with jeweller Yohanna Gibson, who uses real flowers and branches to cast her delicate pieces. Yohanna has made an exquisite belt and headpiece which feature in the collection” said designer Paul Vasileff.
Delicate colour palettes are represented through the collection with alabaster, antique rose, hydrangea blue and faded lavender. “We have worked with a very soft colour palette in this collection and have introduced a new technique of printed silk organza to mimic the unique pattern of a hydrangea petal,” said Vasileff. “Like a petal floating in the wind, these gowns were designed to respond beautifully to movement. This collection sees a more voluminous, dramatic silhouette using new a technique of delicately pintucked French seams.” Gossamer-like tulle and intricately embroidered butterflies bring whimsy and romance to The Passage of Spring.
