One of our favourite Adelaide labels, Naomi Murrell, has released their Autumn 2016 collection entitled Motel.
Recognised for their charismatic feminine charm and refined jewellery pieces, Namoi Murrell is successfully carving a niche in the Australian fashion market for well-made, understated and quintessentially feminine designs that can be cherished for a lifetime.
Motel is inspired by adventure: daytrips and weekends away. It’s designed to be worn with the wind in your hair, a carefree mantra and the pursuit of adventure.
“Whilst designing the collection we talked a lot about fun memories of winter road trips. We were thinking of Thelma and Louise, travelling with friends and looking for adventure,” Naomi says.
This season the label has experimented with beautiful new fabric like Japanese denim, wool gauze and merino jersey. There is also a greater emphasis on texture through the use of fine merino jersey, graphic knitwear, pink boucle coating, and organic pom-pom scarves. And it wouldn’t be a Naomi Murrell collection without the intricate details like feminine splits at the sleeves and ankles, vintage washed brass buttons, and circular pockets.
“We love being able to layer up in the cooler months, and cosy merino pieces are such a go to item once the frosty mornings hit. Denim is an area we want to explore as it suits our feminine tomboy aesthetic, and relaxed approach to looking sharp.”
And who could possibly resist a collection where the colour palette was inspired by roadhouse food. Think gingham tablecloths, strawberry milkshakes and hotdogs. You had us at strawberry milkshakes…
