Overnight we heard the sad news that iconic Aussie fashion label LIFEwithBIRD will be closing its doors for good.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of LIFEwithBIRD in the coming weeks. We would like to thank everyone who has shared this incredible journey over the past 16 years,” said husband and wife design duo Bridget and Nick in an email to subscribers.
Known for its innovative and modern designs, the womenswear brand has been on the forefront of the premium Australian fashion scene for a number of years now, and most recently even showing their latest collection at the Virgin Australian Melbourne Fashion Festival in March.
“LIFEwithBIRD has been such a huge part of our lives. We started by patternmaking on kitchen benches, packing orders and hand tying swing tags at home. To have created something that grew and evolved into the brand many know today and knowing our designs have touched so many people in Australia and abroad is something we will always be very proud of,” they continued in the same farewell newsletter.
The label’s closure adds to the long list of Aussie labels that have closed or gone into voluntary admission within the last year: Oroton, Lover, Marcs, David Lawrence, the Australian arm of Topshop and Zachary the Label.
The Chapel Street and Melbourne Emporium LIFEwithBIRD boutiques have already closed, with the remaining stores to follow suit in the next couple of weeks.
Limited styles at heavily reduced prices are still available on their website with a one-day flash sale that started today for 30% off all the already reduced pieces with the code TAKE30.
