She is the leggy brunette with a body that looks like its been carved to replicate a Victoria’s Secret angel. We are talking about Adelaide’s own Stephanie Harrison of Finesse Models.
At the humble age of 18, Steph is an Adelaide runway regular; walking for the likes of Paolo Sebastian, Couture + Love + Maddness and even gracing our A Night Of Fashion Runway. Oh and not to mention a very successful Australian Fashion Week stint walking alongside Alessandra Ambrosio for Alex Perry. You know, no biggy…
We caught up with Steph to chat about her modeling career thus far and about her exciting future endeavours.
When and how did you first get into modelling?
I was 15 when two of my friends mentioned they were going to the Finesse and IMG Model Search, which was held on a Friday night in Rundle Mall, so I thought why not attend myself. All the contestants, including myself had to do our best catwalk in front of not only the onlookers bypassing but model scouts from IMG and Finesse. Thankfully I did because somehow I managed to win the competition with no prior experience of modelling and that was the start of my career.
What have been your favourite moments as a model so far?
There have been many great moments that I couldn’t pick just one. Being able to meet new people all the time, being given amazing opportunities to travel and of course wear gorgeous clothes are just some of the wonderful things I get to experience.
You’ve recently signed with a modelling agency in Milan. What was your reaction when you found out the big news?
After hearing that Fashion Model Management Milan were going to sign me I felt a bunch of emotions, the main ones of course being excited, happy and thankful. However, I also felt slightly nervous as my first overseas trip would be alone. I remember my model booker in Adelaide telling me the news and I couldn’t wipe the smile of my face, I instantly messaged mum and dad to let them know.
If you could model for any designer or feature in any magazine, who would it be?
If I could choose I would love to walk in a Chanel show or – like every girls dream – Victoria’s Secret and it would be incredible to be featured in a Vogue or Elle Magazine.
You’ve previously walked for Australian fashion icon, Alex Perry. What was that experience like?
It was definitely one to remember; it was my first fashion week and I landed the job I wanted the most. Backstage I obviously felt a little nervous as I would be walking in an Alex Perry show, (with Alessandra Ambrosio in the same show) however everyone involved was super friendly and nice which made it all less nerve-racking. Walking down the mirrored gold runway in Alex Perry’s beautiful garments was one of the most exhilarating and amazing experiences which I’ll never forget.
What does your everyday skincare regime entail?
I have a very simple regime, which is washing my face every morning and night with a Clearasil face scrub and then moisturising with the Cetaphil face moisturiser as it doesn’t clog my pores or make my skin oily. I also try to moisturise my body after every shower to ensure my skin is always hydrated.
How do you keep yourself fit and toned?
I try to power walk at least 2-3 times a week which I usually just do around my block or if it’s nice weather I like doing it down at the beach. I also try to do just quick and simple workouts each night or morning, which consist of a couple abs, bum, leg and arm exercises. I hate diets so I just try to eat as healthy as possible but also like to have my indulgences in portion.
Models can become known for their off-duty looks. How would you describe your style?
I generally think I have a little bit of every style in my wardrobe. I enjoy getting dressed up and wearing heels, I also love wearing just casual jeans and Converses, and I even love going op shopping and finding vintage and different pieces. There’s not really one certain look I always portray but kind of a mixture of everything.
What are your plans for 2016?
I’m hoping to be travelling and modelling all year, seeing different places, working for different people in different countries and just making the most of it!
