Margaret Zhang directs and releases first short film

Just in case you didn’t know, our all-time fave style icon is Margaret Zhang – the young Australian who has been making waves in the fashion world for a long time now, which is crazy considering she’s only 24 years old. She’s a natural in front of the lens, putting together fashion forward and unique outfits, as well as behind the lens, directing fashion editorials for massive brands and her own personal ventures. But today, she adds director and creative visionary to the list as she releases her very own short film.

Titled ‘There’s No Space Left in C# Minor’, the 16-minute short is visually stunning and incredibly well thought-out. Desribed by the young star herself as “a piece unfettered by brand briefs or editorial restrictions or any real third party opinion for that matter”. Basically, a true passion project where she got to focus on her first love, the piano and music, and how it has influenced everything she has subsequently done – photography, art direction and and her creative work.

The film also features cameos from big fashion models – including our very own Akiima – wearing some incredible pieces from both homegrown labels – Dion Lee, Bassike, Strateas Carlucci, Zimmermann – and international favourites like Gucci and Louis Vuitton.
