If you’ve been following the recent hype in beauty (or you’ve binge-reading all our beauty articles this year) you’d notice that makeup trends are getting out-of-this-world crazy. Just when we got the hang of contouring, they gave us strobing, then we worked that one out along came cream contouring to bring us right back to the land of makeup amateurs. If you still can’t work out how to blend your cream contour, or how the heck to ‘bake’ your face (btw we’ve got a tutorial here), this new beauty trend will make your day. Non-touring is the latest addition to the face-painting craze, but unlike the previous trends, this technique revolves around your natural beauty (score!)
How to ‘non-tour’
Step 1 — Begin by priming your entire face with an illuminating primer like the BECCA Backlight Priming Perfector ($52.00). This will create a smooth, luminous base for your foundation, which will enhance your natural glow.
Step 2 — Opt for a tinted moisturiser or BB cream instead of a full-coverage foundation for this look, as non-touring is all about letting your natural beauty shine through. If you feel like you need some more coverage over blemishes or dark circles, apply a concealer as necessary. For sheer coverage bases, CLIQUE Mag loves Napoleon Perdis’ Off Duty Tinted Moisturiser ($39 from Myer), which we set with the Make Up For Ever HD Pressed Powder ($53 from Media Makeup).
Step 3 — Finish this look by applying a highlighter to the places where light naturally touches (cheekbones, cupids bow and nose ridge). Unlike strobing, non-touring is all about keeping your highlighting really natural-looking and soft. This can be achieved by using a fan brush to subtly apply the product. We love the Smashbox Fan Brush No. 22 ($26 from Mecca Cosmetica) for use with the BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Highlighter ($64 from Sephora Australia).
And that’s it! Three steps is all it takes to perfect the latest beauty craze, which sounds pretty achievable to us. This technique has been seen on the faces of the beauty-world’s elite like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, which means that we’re basically supermodels now, right?
