Walking through the CBD’s Topham Mall, it’s hard to miss the pop of colour coming from inside The Flower Nook.
Thanks to Renew Adelaide, Sophie Kresevic was able to open her floristry business just over one year ago and has now moved into her second shop front along Eastwood’s Glen Osmond Road among great neighbours of MABE Hair, Bar 9 & Littlest Vintage.
Sophie’s passion for floristry stems from her creative personality and also from working part time at The Flower Parade part time while studying interior architecture.
“The thing I love about floristry – besides putting together unique arrangements each day – is seeing the smile on people’s faces as soon as they walk in the shop and helping them find the perfect arrangement or present for whatever the occasion,” says Sophie.
Sophie explains how Renew Adelaide helped get her passion and business underway inside the Topham Mall space, which essentially lead to her being able to open a second florist front.
“Renew Adelaide gave me the kick-start I needed without having to lock myself into a daunting long term lease,” says Sophie.
The Eastwood location was a no brainer as she lives just around the corner and noticed the lack of a florist shop in the area.
“I did a quick search online one day not thinking too much of it and came across this gem right in the hub of Glen Osmond Rd and directly across from the popular café Bar 9,” Sophie says. “The whole process happened pretty naturally as I wasn’t on the search for a new shop, I just found this particular space and fell in love with its potential.
Besides their readymade bunches, terrariums and indoor plants, The Flower Nook also support other local creatives by stocking Nosha candles that look as good as they smell, gift cards from Paper Parade and more scented candles from The Scent Candle Co – making them a one-stop gift shop.
If you’re heading into The Flower Nook Eastwood this winter, you can’t go past two of Sophie’s favourites – the unusual purple & green Kale or a sweet bunch of poppies.
