Five Style Lessons We Can Learn From Beyoncé’s Lemonade

It’s very easy to get wrapped up in the scandal that is Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s imminent break-up when talking about LemonadeBut there’s something everyone seems to be missing. There are many sartorial lessons the video album can teach us. In what will be an ongoing serious of five style lessons we can learn from various influential sources, we now present to you:

Five Style Lessons We Can Learn From Lemonade.

YOU NEED A FUR COAT THIS WINTER

The opening scene has already been meme’d to high heaven. The highlight clearly being @fuckjerry and Bernie Sanders. There’s no way to look more baller then reppin’ a fur coat. Australian winters are notoriously mild, and sports chic is already a very prevalent (if not altogether mildly depressing) trend, so why not go even further with your Lemonade leaf taking and simply pop your fur coat over your active wear. Kimmy K is already there.

THE HOODIE NEVER DIES

The alternative to your mildly ostentatious fur coat is the humble hoodie. A staple for years, we’ve witnessed grunge incarnations via Kurt Cobain to pseudo punk looks care of Avril Lavigne and velour versions on pop princess Paris Hilton. Why not try mixing things up this year and wear your stained grey number over the most elaborate formal dress you can find. Which brings us to our next lesson…

Beyonce Lemonade Yellow Dress

A FORMAL DRESS IS FOR ALL OCCASIONS

Lemonade is a video of extremes; it’s a full length gown or it’s no pants at all. There is no middle ground. Don’t be afraid to wear colour, the yellow dress and cons situation during the car smashing incident is positively inspired. If you’re more a black and white babe, opt for something frilly or with ample lace (both big trends within the video) Or find yourself the ultimate red ball gown and don it for a trip to the local fish and chip shop. Because nice things deserve to be seen.

CLASSICS ARE CLASSICS FOR A REASON

There is a reason Levis have been around for over 160 years. And the classic jeans and white t-shirt combo is classic for a reason. It looks good on everyone and it never dates. There is absolutely nothing wrong with occasionally (or all day every day) dressing for comfort. Especially while horse riding through a field contemplating the infidelity of your partner. Let’s not forget that moment in the veggie patch with the Amazonian haired girl wearing a white tee and denim overalls. A completely perfect outfit. Long live denim. Speaking of Amazonian hair, our last lesson is…

EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT HAIR STYLES

It’s important to experiment with new styles. CLIQUE Mag understands that we are referencing Beyoncé here and she is clearly always flawless and able to pull off literally any hairstyle, but why not let yourself go and try something new. Whether that’s actually letting your hair dry naturally or giving yourself a mild migraine from attempting to plait 742 tiny braids tightly from your scalp.

In conclusion, it’s fair to say there are many fashion lessons we can learn from the visual album that is Lemonade. It is totally okay to mix genres and it’s also totally okay to be a carbon copy of your friends. Reference the back-up dancers and hello #squadgoals.

Most importantly though, we think it’s best to always embrace who you are, wear whatever the hell you want and be proud of it. Own it, just like Bey does.
