Adelaide’s CBD is set to get a whole lot groovier this Saturday as DISCO Is Not A Dirty Word presents Electric Avenue. Reviving the vibrant flair of underground Disco tunes in the 70s and 80s, the street party is guaranteed to get hips moving as it transforms Coromandel Place into a mecca of all things funky.
Shedding a light on the widely underappreciated genre, Electric Avenue is an all-vinyl affair, in keeping with the music’s original medium. The only boogie fest of its kind nationwide, December’s party moves beyond its original venue, Biggies at Bertram, to encompass two dancefloors to keep your moving, two bars to keep you refreshed as well as eats to fuel your groove by Coromandel Snack Bar.
With more room for moving and shaking, Coromandel Place will play host to a stellar line up of Disco DJs. Adelaide’s Body Movement, J. Hennessy and Fantastic Black Plastic will hit the Electric Avenue decks alongside Melbourne’s The D Word for a top-notch night of funky beats direct from the golden ages of Disco.
The demand for a larger capacity follows a year’s worth of monthly celebrations at the avenue’s resident vinyl bar, Biggies. With lines snaking around the streets at each event, Electric Avenues is a direct response for ever increasing demand for those good ol’ boogie inducing Disco beats.
Don your best dancing shoes Adelaide and boogie on down to Coromandel Place this Saturday to get funky with Electric Avenues.
