The finalists for the 2016/17 International Woolmark prize for Australia and New Zealand were announced late last week and designer Daniel Avakian made the cut.
Daniel unveiled his woollen wonders in Melbourne last week, saying “it was an honour to be part of such a time honoured and prestigious award.”
“I commend The Woolmark Company for this fantastic initiative as it gives designers a forum to showcase their talents, inspirations, visions and most of all share best practices among key industry leaders.”
His woollen collection includes four individual pieces that feature a mix of cashmere, virgin and Merino wool. His statement pieces are perfect for the cooler weather with his black floor length coat being a head-to-toe winter warmer.
Since his brand launch in 2007, Daniel Avakian has designed contemporary women’s clothing, known for his outstanding tailoring. Daniel’s designs offer versatility to the sleek and stylish woman.
The winners were announced last night for the menswear and womenswear categories, with Exinfinitas and MacGraw taking top spots.
