Crack Kitchen launches a cracking good new winter menu

Once a bustling city bank, Crack Kitchen is now probably Adelaide’s most Instagram-able café – high white walls, natural light pouring through the windows, plenty of greenery and concrete counters – and we all know how important that is when deciding on your next breakfast date. All jokes aside, it has a consistently stand out food menu and beautiful seasonal coffee that is roasted on-site. But if you haven’t been, now is the perfect time as they’ve just launched their winter menu.

'The Mortgage'

With the cold weather upon us, gone are the days of fruity chia puddings and soaked bircher muesli but the Franklin Street gem still has us covered with an all-day brunch menu tailored for the colder weather. For those who like the sweeter variety, there is a coconut and hemp porridge as well as decadent gingerbread hotcakes. Otherwise, try the Crack take on a classic, ‘The Mortgage’, which is a delicious smashed avocado on toast with grilled asparagus, lemon and mixed seeds.

Head Chef, Scott Law, has also created a winter warmers lunch menu (available after 11.30am) including but not limited to, slow braised beef cheeks, pan seared tuna, and a buttermilk fried chicken burger. You’ll have to pop in to see (and try) the rest of the menu yourself, but expect some other interesting meal names that reference the heritage bank vibe.

Gingerbread hotcakes

After plenty of requests from regular patrons, the chefs have also brought back the option to add brunch-staple smoked salmon to your favourite dish. Fresh salmon locally smoked in Hahndorf by Harris Smokehouse is now available as well as other delicious sides, we’re looking at the crispy truffle polenta cakes.

“The Crack winter menu was predicated on peoples desire to satisfy their winter cravings in a healthy way,” says owner Kim Palmer. “So more comfort style food offerings such as the chilli scrambled eggs and the coconut hemp heart porridge that satisfy an appetite but also leave you feeling good about yourself.”
