CLIQUE Picks: Crush Festival 2018

For us, it’s winery season all year, but now that Summer has officially arrived, you have every reason to head to our infamous wine regions. And if you need another reason, then look no further than the Crush Festival, a celebration of the Adelaide Hills wines but also a full sensory experience with local produce, music, art and theatre.

It all kicks off on Australia Day and goes until Sunday evening, and the program can be a little overwhelming so let us help you out with a few places to start.

Rosé and Croquet at The Lane Vineyard

We all know how beautiful the dining room at The Lane is. This summer, switch it up by enjoying an afternoon on the lawns with tasty treats from their kitchen and a spot of croquet. More importantly, there will be an outdoor rosé bar serving up their delicious pink wine offering as well as the ever popular frozen variety, frozé.

Where the Wild Wines Are at O’Leary Walker Wines

Spend a sunny afternoon on the lawn or underneath their brand new pergola, enjoy great wine and local acoustic music. Tasty locally sourced bites – including Port Lincoln octopus, Fleurieu Peninsula lamb and Adelaide Hills haloumi – will be on offer thanks to The Locavore. If you have a group of 10-15, why not book one of their open rustic bell tents, which will also include a forage feast and drinks on arrival.

The Piece Project at Longview Vineyard

Norman Jay will instead perform a sunset session from 5.30pm-10.00pm at The Pontoon in Elder Park – Tickets are $20 and available here.

One of the Crush Festival’s biggest events, The Piece Project returns for its 8th year. Four local street artists will compete by creating their aerosol masterpieces and the winner at the end of the day will be the label for Longview’s premium reserve Shiraz, The Piece. Enjoy a day of art, live music from legendary DJ Norman Jay, delicious food trucks and of course, Longview wines.

Burger and Beats at Bird in Hand

Picturesque hills, delicious drops and that iconic door – what more can you ask for from Bird in Hand? Well, their talented in house chefs will be switching things up for the Crush Festival by serving up delectable burgers for meat loves and vegetarians alike. Enjoy gourmet burgers and fries, a glass of wine and enjoy an afternoon of DJ tunes to get the party going.

The North Shore Beach Party at Glen Ewin Estate

Yep, you heard right. Glen Ewin Estate is bringing the beach to the hills. A sandy island beach complete with a slip ‘n slide, inflatable pools and even a VIP option of a private paddling pool. Live it up with wine tastings, grape crushing, delicious summer food stalls – think fish & chips, gourmet salads, fruit stations, lolly bars – and don’t forget the gin & fruit and champagne icy-poles.

Gathered. Market at Tomich Wines

One of Adelaide’s favourite markets heads to the Hills this Crush Festival. Gathered. Market is bringing their exclusively South Australian makers + creators to Tomich Wines to showcase handmade jewellery, stationery, art, ceramics, children’s products, skincare and so much more. Shop up a storm, support local businesses as well as delicious wines, live music and activities for adults and kids alike.
